Why we do what we do

We offer a series of street food markets that bridge the gap between the the commercial heart beat of a community market and the night time economy.

We actively seek out underused community spaces, activating them with live cooking, fresh aromas and filling them with people.

We offer offer opportunity for people to strengthen social connection in affordable, accessible ways. We’ve all got to eat right?

We build connections using food.

Breaking bread is an act of peace.

Sharing food unites people.

The dining table, the restaurant, is a democratic space.

This fundamental habit that spans cultures, ages and religions is a simple and necessary act that can be performed in the most joyous of ways.

Our values

One of our leading values in running these events is to make them accessible to everyone, be it diet, physical or financial.

We choose venues that everyone can get to and around, with nearby toilet facilities, and places that have plenty of space for kids to run around.

We offer a community dining feast that is free and accessible to everyone. What better way to spend a Friday night?

Whoops!

I started my business by accident.

On a family holiday in the Dordogne we made our way to the local market, and discovered something extraordinary. People were gathered in town square, embraced by the sun baked buildings after a long, hot day’s work. The air was full of the aromas of cooking and barbecuing, chattering and singing and French pop. It was buzzing. It was brilliant.

Coming back home I thought about how my family experience of dining was miles apart. The pleasure of being in a restaurant was lost in the stress of young kids, early nights, compromising and finances.

Why not take a bit of this and mix it with that in a place that needed some oo-la-la……

I started Seaton Eats in 2015 and since then we’ve had nearly 100 events in 5 different communities. At one point I was doing 4 markets a month!

This year, 2026 I’m scaling back a tad and we’ll be in 2 locations, Beer and Lyme Regis. These 2 small communities sit on the Unesco World Heritage site of the Jurassic coast, and have plenty of stories to tell. Join us on a Friday evening in the summer, meet the locals and allow your tastebuds to enjoy a culinary trip around the world.
